New Single “You Own This”
I’ve known 2″Live Bre for the last few years. I’ve been blessed to witness his growth from ‘Sauce Talk‘ to his viral ‘Party At The Waffle House‘ days. Personally watched his fan base and love for his music expand over the years. Although, like every artist, you go through challenges and changes. Bre was no exception. This is the music industry after all.
Now he’s back. 2019. 2’Live Bre. New music and doing it how he wants. Oh yeah, and he’s in our upcoming Class 13 and I couldn’t be more stoked. He’s dropped “Back In My Bag“, “Mhm“, and his single that’s now closing in on over 55K Streams on Spotify & Youtube alone in 2 weeks “Goofy“. This week he drops yet another single “You Own This“; a powerful and personal single & video that touches on some of the challenges he’s faced over the last few years.
3 Years In The Making
“When I made this song, I was thinking about the time I lost not being in control of my career. I was trying to figure out a way to tell the fans all the issues that were bothering me in one song. It’s been three years since I was able to drop music the way I wanted to. It was a time in my life where I let everyone own me, even my thoughts. I woke up and said “I’m going to be the author of my story.” It was killing me on the inside not being able to communicate all sides of this journey, not just the success. This song is for the people that think when things are going bad it’s over. I found that it’s only over when you give up. So get back up and realize YOU own this – you are the author of your story.” -Bre
Rice’s Thoughts
The thing I love about Bre is the drive and energy. You can feel it when you walk in the same room as him. If you really want to see it in action just watch a live performance. It’s just overflowing out of him. Even so, I knew some of the struggles he’s had to face through the whole process. But not once did I think he’d lay the pen down. Always believed in his ability to persevere. His love for his fans and music would keep that fire alive. It’s a beautiful thing to see him back in action and with a force.
This track made me smile cause this was his truth to paper. This is his statement to the world he’s back and better than ever. Why wouldn’t I be happy for a guy I’ve supported and chopped it up with for years overcoming everything he’s been through to come out on the other side more motivated than ever. This is the perfect execution for this song too. The slick guitar lick and soft flutes with a flow and kick drum that gets the car bumping.
Whether you’ve followed him for years or you’re a new fan this song is one that will introduce you to a side of Bre most won’t know. A deeper side. A song of betrayal, loss, backstabbing, and wanting to set the pen down as Lil Bre. All while bouncing back as 2’Live Bre because as he let’s us know as soon as the song comes on “I go by 2’Live Bre cause I ain’t scared to live… I’m back and I ain’t going nowhere ya dig. I promise that”.
