Adara drops the music video for Death of a Star (awesome song title, by the way) and, guys, this is a journey. Once again, her team pulls together incredible visual elements to craft a story. The quality, creative vision and execution these guys bring is through the roof, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to share their combined work of art with you!
This time, Adara takes us to the tranquil coast to set the aura of her song. She gives us a backdrop of a setting sun, all in glorious view above the waves. The tempo of Death of a Star is more toned down; it’s something intimate to her as an artist. As she stated in our Nashville Unsigned interview, this project has more of a personal feel to it, so the story this time is an emotional one.
Her team resonates this personal vision very effectively, both in the way they frame landscapes and create amazing CG effects. The costume, make-up, and acting departments are all top notch, and the direction is supreme. They are a great example of the levels of quality that’s within reach to the unsigned community– it’s not like we’re peddling tapes out of our vans anymore, we’re making cinematic-quality music videos and sharing them to the world.
The Writing and the Vision
Her writing for Death of a Star is more contemplative than some of her previous songs. The song itself relates to loneliness, something like a beautiful sadness. It’s similar to the way the cosmos can be so beautiful, yet so empty at the same time. The lyrics are both stimulating and deep, adhering to her unique style of sci-fi related material. She has this ability to remind you that you’re on a beautiful planet, circling a brilliant star. These elements are woven into both the music video and song structure well. Actually, can we just talk about the songwriting for a second?
“Every living alien knows what a broken heart is, yeah it’s hard to forget when you know what the death of a star did, the universe gets colder a little bit closer to darkness, yeah it’s hard to forget when you know what the death of a star did,”
Kudos, space queen.
