World Of Drops:
JIMMY ROCK and I go back! I remember the first time I met Jimmy back in 2017. We were on the bill together at a music festival in downtown Nashville, TN. It was a wild mix of DJs and bands performing throughout the day. Naturally seeing how we both have a mutual love for Electronic Dance music, we gravitated towards each other. It was fun hangs! We talked music, food, culture, gear; all of the techy/geeky stuff that most of us DJs drool over. It’s always nice to meet and connect with new people! If you don’t know who JIMMY ROCK is; Jimmy is a DJ, artist, music producer, and graphic designer. We kept in touch and both started releasing singles on our platforms. Last year rolls around and Jimmy approached me to remix his song “84” (check out JIMMY ROCK – 84 SEGØ Remix here) which was included on Jimmy’s 84 Remix Edition EP. Fast forward to today and JIMMY ROCK is gearing up to release his debut EP, World of Drops.
The EP opens with 3x Grammy Award spoken word artist, Egypt Speaks on “Intro To War.” Instantly you are drawn in with a stirring poetic prose that evokes a sense of triumphant energy, while also setting a tone that perfectly preludes the next track, “War”. The song opens with a soaring battle cry that builds into a fist-pumping bass drop which is the overall staple to JIMMY ROCK’s signature sound, while also expanding into uncharted sonic territory. Battle drums and trumpets reign supreme in this victorious call “I believe that we will win”.
Catch These… Tunes
Keeping the momentum going, Jimmy rolls right into the next track “Catch These Hands” which features Christian Hip Hop music legend, Pettidee. With a catchy hook of “let me see your hands up”, combined with the lyrical flow of Pettidee and a bouncing brass rhythm, “Catch These Hands” is an uplifting song that you could drop primetime in a club, as well as being the perfect pregame hype-up song.
There’s no time sleep tho because clocking into a call to wake up, Jimmy’s next track (and the shortest song on the EP) “Don’t Sleep on Me” continues the journey into World of Drops from alarming buildup to melodic beat to drive its message home. Fern from Social Club Misfits and Steven Malcolm make a guest appearance on “Won’t Stop” united with JIMMY ROCK’s signature energetic synth drops to deliver an infectious, rhythmic banger.
“You Feel It” finales World of Drops with an explosion of screaming synth melodies, on top of a drop that just goes just as hard. Delivering primal energy that makes you feel World of Drops all the way to the very end, “You Feel It” is the perfect conclusion to JIMMY ROCK’s World of Drops. In conclusion, this is one record I can’t wait to drop in my own DJ sets! I believe this EP will sit well on any playlist, DJ set, or festival where people love to dance.
