Nashville has a brand new tender heart anthem in”Either Way” by Koziol Kennedy. The harmony rich pairing is the collaboration of Nashville singer songwriters, Bre Kennedy and Matt Koziol. This week the duo drops a whiskey laced ballad fit for a rainy September evening. Although Bre Kennedy is already a member of NU’s CLASS 8, the new duo will be featured in Class 11 with Nashville Unsigned.
EITHER WAY
The duo releases their third single in as many months with the slow duet “Either Way”. Kennedy’s voice is raspy and smooth and plays the heart strings with vulnerability. Koziol (pronounced ‘cozy-uhl’) chimes in with his signature strong low end tone. The track sets the mood right off the bat parading an orchestral movement fit for a box office smash trailer. Bre enters with her whispery vocals explaining her loneliness under a moon. Shortly thereafter, Matt joins and the powerful blend of their voices is apparent.
The lyrics are a heartbreaking story of two souls separated from one another. Either way I’m all alone / and you’re not here with me / either way I’m underneath this spell you put on me / Tried to lock my heart away / found it breaking either way. If there is a soul out there that feels nothing while listening back; let no such man be trusted.
“Either Way” follows the previously dropped “Take Your Time” and ” Periodic Poetry”. By now, the public can expect Koziol Kennedy to continue carving out their niche in the national Americana scene.
THE TEAM
The songs for the EP “Slow & Low” were completed. At least the duo believed. That’s when a last minute co-write with CLASS 6 Samuel Lee materialized. Koziol informed producer Matt Odmark there was one more song they would have to record because, “how could they not?”
The team converged at Gray Matters studio and work was underway. Banks Nelson provided a stunning string arrangement and the rest is history.
