Georgia native, WILDWOOD, is creeping into the Nashville Indie Pop music scene with haunting melodies that will surely cast a spell on you. This female one-woman show plays every live instrument on her recordings, while crafting lyrics that will keep you up at night. With an eeriness similar to Lana Del Rey, WILDWOOD creates a curious, walking through the woods, ambiance with her music.
Newest single “Secrets” has a slight underlying Alison Krauss twang, intertwined with an ominous vibe that captures your full attention. With thundering beats and quivering sounds of the violin, it is an upbeat tune that sounds like revenge. She sings about a love game of poker, revolving around underhand dealings and hidden motives. Truth comes to light, and WILDWOOD makes sure we know that no one will hide these “secrets” from her if she can help it. Because “In the dark is where you hide, but in the light you’re going to find your secrets walking away”.
WILDWOOD “Moonrise”
If you are seeking the perfect fall anthem, look no further. “Moonrise” was WILDWOOD’s first track released this year, and it beautifully compliments her abilities as a multi-instrumental singer-songwriter. It’s the meeting point between haunting and hopeful as you see the moonlight at the end of a dark tunnel. WILDWOOD asks “Will you still love me when the stars fade away? Will you still love me when the night steals the day”. It speaks to an uncertainty developed in a relationship, and WILDWOOD speaks to this feeling with passion and grit. As her vocals effortlessly float throughout the tune, you can’t help but get the chills listening to this intensely, well-written song.
Not only is WILDWOOD rising in the indie music world, she is a certified Boss. A Harvard graduate and fluent in French, she’s the founder of 3 Chords, a non-profit that serves young refugees in Nashville. WILDWOOD is wise beyond her years, and she is just getting started.
