Daisha McBride is claiming her spot in the Nashville Hip Hop scene
Daisha McBride, known to her fans as The Rap Girl, went viral overnight when she posted a freestyle video on Twitter on a whim in 2016. Daisha’s sudden rise to fame still bewilders her to this day.
It all started in her freshman dorm in college. Daisha was messing around and free styling to a beat with some friends when one recorded a video of her rapping. Twitter had just announced the release of their 20-30 second video feature and Daisha & her friends just wanted to post one for fun. Little did she know that, within 24 hours, she would be famous.
The video went viral on sites like WorldStar HipHop, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Daisha McBride had more than 20K views within a week of posting the video, along with social media love from rap legend Missy Elliott.
Sustaining the Buzz
Since then, Daisha has continued to grow her audience with popular freestyle covers and new music. She released her first EP, “Journey,” in 2017. The EP was so titled because the music showcased her personal growth since experiencing fame.
Daisha McBride’s next release “Money To Be Made”, will be released on May 18th. This is on the heels of her first mixtape, “Need These Storms.” The mixtape was about how struggle makes you a better person. Everyone needs challenges in their life to help them become a better person.
Daisha got her start in music at the young age of 10. It was Father’s Day and Daisha wanted to do something special for her dad. She wanted his gift to be unique, so she decided to write him a song. From then on, she knew that rapping was something she loved and wanted to pursue.
Daisha has a clean image, but it’s her tomboy style and personality that set her apart from her peers. She feels more comfortable in everyday clothes that reflect her inner self. Daisha sings about her personal story. She also knows her fans can relate to her experiences in school. Her music is inspirational and bold because it is built upon her foundation with God.
Daisha is makin’ it rain!
Daisha McBride will release her next single, “Money To Be Made” featuring Evan Dupri on Friday, May 18th. The song is a collaboration between Daisha, Evan Dupri and producer Big Bruno.
“Money to be made is a really fun record I did with my close friends Evan Dupri and Big Bruno. We were at a party and Bruno started randomly making the beat right there on the spot. As soon as the beat played Evan and I just started saying the phrase “Money To Be Made”. The whole song came organically and nothing was forced. We recorded the whole song that night and the rest is history.” ”
“I think everyone can relate to this song because who doesn’t want a few more dollars in their pocket?” she continues, “This song definitely describes the mood I will have this summer, I want to make money and have fun. This song is energetic and you can’t help but to dance when you hear it. The new singles I’m releasing this year are some of the best songs I’ve written and I’m excited for the world to hear them.”
Daisha aka The Rap Girl went viral as a result of her freestyle video on Vine being featured on Twitter. She has an extremely devout and engaged fanbase on various social media platforms and on Soundcloud. Her music currently has over 100K streams on Spotify without Spotify editorial support.
