NASHVILLE UNSIGNED REVIEW OF THEIR NEW SONG “PENELOPE”
Our featured band this week, The Western Sons, display their strategic genius by launching their brand new song entitled “Penelope”. This indie rock band made the move to Nashville less than a year ago to continue to pursue their music careers on a Music City level. The new single “PENELOPE” is their first single released in Nashville. The name for the song was inspired by Odysseus’ wife because the band felt the song had a nautical, Greek exploration vibe. The band recorded “Penelope” in their backyard here in Nashville, and trust us, it’s not just any backyard. They have a state-of-art studio where Nick (Drums/Beatnick Media) cooks up hits at the drop of a hat. The Western Sons pulled out, one of their many, secret weapons by bringing their guitarist, Tyler, to the front to sing lead, which by the way, was very clever. The strategic move gives “Penelope” a bit of a softer vibe, which the band says, was intentional.
Fun Facts
“Penelope” is the first song the band has released in two years, exposing their growth as artists and songwriters. This single is like a drug and leaves us wanting more. But have no fear! The band plans to release new music all year long. The most impressive thing to us at Nashville Unsigned, is The Western Sons did everything on this single from record it themselves to executing their own artwork. In the new-age industry it is absolutely imperative to be an entrepreneur first and foremost, even before talent, and The Western Sons seem to have a firm grip on entrepreneurship accompanied by a collection of mad talented artists.
